Bee's Knees
braided black and yellow trash bags, dimensions variable, 2015
Community participatory installation done in partnership with MoCADA and the Brooklyn Queens Land Trust Fall 2016, Green Garden,
Brooklyn, NY
This collaborative project looked to activate a community garden that became uninhabited as the result of a the gentrification dynamics of the Fort Green Section of Brooklyn. Through a collaborative sculpture installation and planting workshop, the space became a hub of activity and collaboration. The participatory event, free and opened to the public, attracted a diversified audience. Visitors from different socio-economic backgrounds, joined forces to create an interactive play ground by collectively braiding trash bags, and potted planters to rehabilitate the garden.
